I see things differently than most.
GI Joe may have had the biggest impact on how I approached my life. The values that it taught me, the heroes I watched every day after school, the kung fu grip, the way I saw the world was shaped first by Real American Heroes (tm). The good guy always won in GI Joe, and Cobra always ended up retrograding. It was an ideal vision of war, and the joes and everyone they helped were better off for waging it.
Things have changed.
To my knowledge there hasn’t been a serious military commentary on Sun Tzu’s Art of War that wasn’t a simple translation or aimed at some corporate audience in almost a millennia. It’s been a long road for me and I’ve always wanted to speak back to that first author of warfare about where we have come. And for everyone else, some of the Public Service Announcements I’ve learned personally along the way.
I’m going to try and update this as often as I can, but I welcome your comments and discussion as I put this together. I do plan on updating my entries based on feedback I find interesting, and I’ll try to post if I’m tweaking stuff. At some future point I do plan on adding additional paywall content. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.
Bear with me on the formatting, I’m new at this.
Yo Joe!!
